Marathon Runners
  • T-shirts: Early registration is helpful to order the right sizes. A T-shirt is not guaranteed for registrations after May 15th.

  • Awards: The first three teams and the first three individuals in their age category to finish will receive a medal. All participants will receive a goody bag. The award ceremony will be held at Boney Park in Fairview when all teams have completed the event.

  • Refunds: Your registration fee goes to support Love INC to help those in need in Oscoda County and also to make this event possible. Thank you for your donation, even if you are unable to participate in the Triathlon this year.

  • Lost or Stolen Property: No one is responsible for your lost or stolen property but yourself. You must secure your kayak, bikes, and other equipment when not in use. Triathlon volunteers will collect any found items, and you may check at the Boney Park Info Tent for such items.

  • Pets: Dogs are not allowed to join the participants on any leg of the event or at Boney Park due to safety and security reasons.

  • Headphones: For your safety, we highly recommend that headphones NOT be worn during the event.

  • Restroom facilities are located at the boat launch and Boney Park.

  • Parking: Limited parking is available at the Boat Launch. Teams/Individuals, please be advised that the Triathlon Parking Lot before the Boat Launch locks at 10:30 am. We are offering transportation back to the Boat Launch. Please sign up for Registration. Transportation will leave Boney Park after lunch and awards and will only make one trip. Please notify Love INC as soon as possible so arrangements can be made.

  • Bibs: Each team member/individual must wear a bib on their front torso as identification using ALL 4 pins! ***Failure to do so will result in DNF in the official results.***

  • Kayakers must have a life-saving device in each kayak. A limited number of kayaks will be available to rent at the boat launch for $25.00, or use your own. If you rent the kayak on site, the fee will have to be paid in cash or check (paid to Hinchman Acres). If you would like to reserve a kayak in advance or pay by credit card, call Hinchman Acres at 989-826-3267 to reserve before the event. Kayakers will paddle to the spillway, backing up against it. On signal, they will paddle to and around a buoy and back to the launch. They will pull their kayak out of the water to a designated spot and tag their cyclist. Kayaks must be returned to the kayak area or waiting personal vehicles.

  • Bicyclists: MUST wear a buckled helmet. Will bring their own bikes (E BIKES NOT ALLOWED) and be mounted with feet on the start line, ready to leave when their kayak member tags them. *Cyclists may have someone hold their bike so they may tag the kayaker. Cyclists will pedal to M-33, where police will have traffic stopped, but cyclists should still be observant when crossing the highway. Take the first right onto McKinley Rd. McKinley Rd is curvy as it follows the River. Bicyclists must stay on the right side of the road, never crossing the center line, and are not allowed to ride side-by-side. Cyclists will turn north on Abbe Rd (approximately 5 miles from M-33) and continue towards Fairview, turning right at the blinker light and continuing on M-72 to Boney Park (approximately .25 miles). The bike leg ends just past the yellow fencing on the left side of the road. Bikers need to bike through the orange transition line. Runners will be on the left. As soon as your teammate crosses that line, Runners may begin their leg.

  • If a cyclist is also running, a friend or family member must care for the bike. Bike racks will not be available.

  • Runners: The course is two laps with water available at the end of the first lap. The finish line will be at the end of the second lap.

  • Refreshments: Refreshments for participants will be at the info tent at Boney Park.

  • Lunch will be served at Boney Park starting around 11:30 am.

  • First Aid: The Oscoda County Ambulance Service and patrol cars will be on hand at the Mio Pond and along the bike and running route. Triathlon volunteer spotters will also be along the route, able to call for assistance if needed.

  • Outside Assistance: Event participants may not receive any assistance outside that offered by event volunteers—for example, biking or running alongside active participants. Friends and family may cheer all they want, but they will not offer you anything or give any assistance other than call for help if needed.
